The Silk Road is one trip I want to take. Travelling East from Istanbul along the old trade routes to Asia, working through Iran and the Central Asian Republics to China. Along the way, I will take the Karakoram Highway, one of the most scenic desert highways from Pakistan into China. In China, the next leg will take me to Tibet and then likely to Shanghai and Beijing. |
From Beijing, I will travel into Mongolia, and ride along the steppes of that region to Ulan Battar, the capital. From there I will take the Trans-Mongolian Railway into Russia all the way to Moscow. This portion of the trip was cancelled due to the outbreak of SARS; I could not get into Tibet from Nepal. When will I do all this - in the not too distant future. |
