Michael Seto's Travel Photography

The page links you to selected photos from my travels.

My father loved photography and we have bookcases of family photos in our house.

My first camera was his old Pentax K-1000, a classic SLR on which I learned the interaction between the f-stop (aperture) and shutter speed. I worked on my high school yearbook and spent a lot of time doing black and white work in the darkroom.

On this trip I used a Nikon N80 and several lenses - but my workhorse was the Nikkor 28-200 mm whose flexibility allowed for a lot of shots without constantly changing lenses. I highly recommend it as a versatile and durable travel lens.

Filmwise, I shot a lot of Fuji Velvia and Provia (slide film) for my landscapes. A lot of the portraiture was taken with Fuji NPH and the B&W was predominantly Ilford XP2.

In this self portrait taken in Vietnam, I am holding a manual Nikon FE, my dependable backup camera. Two cameras also allows me to carry color and B&W film at the same time and switch back and forth.
